Cash Flow Model Template

A cash flow model template is a structured spreadsheet or tool that projects expected cash inflows and outflows across future periods to estimate ending cash balances. It typically organizes collections, operating expenses, debt payments, taxes, and capital outlays by month or week, producing a running cash position. Unlike a cash flow statement, which reports the past, a cash flow model is forward-looking and built to test assumptions.

Problem & Application

Seasonal operators like campgrounds and STR hosts live and die by cash timing, since revenue concentrates in peak months while expenses run year-round. A cash flow model lets an owner see when balances dip, plan for slow seasons, and time large purchases or distributions without risking a shortfall. For startups, the same model surfaces runway and the point at which financing or revenue must arrive.

In Short

A cash flow model turns assumptions into a clear view of future liquidity, making it one of the most practical planning tools an owner can keep current.
